Veggies–The Packable Factor–Holla!!

In Uncategorized on August 19, 2011 at 1:52 am

Incorporating veggies and fruits into a daily diet is critical to optimum health.  It’s hard with these crazy schedules that wrap themselves around job and family.  But, if you seriously desire a lifestyle change, consider making just a few changes along the way…baby steps count!  My tip for the day is to carry a little (do I need to say cute/fashionable) food bag with you at all times.  Stock it with little treats that will help you avoid binges and give you just the amount of borrowed time to make a healthy choice.  I opt for filling my bag with nuts or seeds (sunflower seeds, cashews) and fresh fruits like cherry tomatos for snacking, or any other freshly cut fruits and veggies that can be easily put in ziplock bags.

Don’t leave home without them…YOUR SNACKS!!

Sunday’s Best

In Uncategorized on August 15, 2011 at 8:49 pm

All right, foodies.  This is for all my natural lovers.  I made this on Sunday night and didn’t gobble it up before taking a few pics.  It’s about 75% raw using lightly steamed cabbage leaves (check out that beautiful Tree of Life that God used to sign his work with!), and used a food processor to cut down on some of the chopping time.

10 of the large cabbage leaves, the outer leaves of the head (lightly steam in some boiling salt water, then run cold water over them)

Shitake mushrooms (I used dried ones and added hot boiling water of them, let them reconstitute, cleaned them by cutting away the stems and removed any particles.  They will blump up, so make sure you squeeze out excess water before adding to the mixture..also chop them up good)

Tomato Paste (small can)

Fresh Red Onions

Veggie Crumblers/Soy Protein (I used a bag of Morningstar..fried it in a pan with oil until it browned and then added to the mixture)

Raw pecans (coarsley chopped)

Steamed Rice (I used half a cup of jasmine rice, a steamed it in a rice cooker.)

EVO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)

Hot Sauce

Italian Seasoning and Salt

Fresh Garlic (2 to 3 cloves)

Agave (or sugar to sweeten a little)

Soy Sauce

Mix well, stuff and wrap.  You can also make a dipping sauce, use Tiger Sauce or anything that you want to enhance the flavor..but they are delicious by themselves.

some of the ingredients I used..I put away some of the other ingredients before I remembered to take pics.

Quick Cob Salad–Salad Lovers, Get in Here!!

In Uncategorized on August 13, 2011 at 12:08 am

I ate it so fast, I forgot to take pics.  But here are all the ingredients you need:

Spinach Salad (Organic in the big bag)

A fresh corn on the cob ear (cut off the kernels)

Red Onion

2 Boiled Eggs (My mom, turned me on to the best eggs in the carton at a good price, Eggland’s Best..after you boil and crack, they don’t give off that strong typical boiled egg smell.  Thanks, Mom!)

Avocado

Tomato

I’m trying to get away from processed salad dressings, so I drizzled my salad with EVO (extra virgin olive oil, coldpressed), himalayan salt, garlic, and schirach–asian hot sauce). Voila ce magnifique!  I promise to post pics the next time I make this (sorry)!!
